How to learn to ride a motorcycle on your own? Part 3

TOUCH ALL

You need to be able to get off right, what we are going to do now. To begin with, renew the memory of your motorcycle’s gearbox design and clutch. This will make it clearer what happens to the engine when you shift gears and squeeze the clutch. When you visually imagine the operation of all components, you will automatically try not to harm them – do not scatter the gears of the gearbox and do not burn the clutch discs.

Well, the engine warmed up and runs at idle, you took the bike off the steps and sat comfortably, resting your left foot on the asphalt. Now play the throttle stick, by ear, synchronize the number of revolutions and the angle of deviation of the knob from zero. When starting off, the most important thing is to successfully dispense the fuel supply, without busting and without a lack. Otherwise, the motor either stalls when starting off, or the motorcycle jerks sharply, the consequences of which can be the most unpredictable. Therefore, it is important to know by ear the number of revolutions just needed to move off, even without the help of a tachometer, if you have one.

If someone once tells you that he knows how to control a motorcycle, do not believe it. You can learn to master the art of managing a bike endlessly …

Now turn off the clutch by pressing the lever all the way and stick the first gear. Gently release the clutch until you feel that the engine speed begins to fall, and the motorcycle slowly starts to move. Enough for now. Squeeze the clutch and turn off the gear, put it on neutral and do this exercise until the neutral gear starts to engage at the level of automatism. This is very important and will save you from the hassle of traffic lights and stops.

When you feel confident (as it seems to you), you can try to get underway for real. Turn off the clutch, turn on the first, releasing the clutch simultaneously remove your foot from the asphalt. That’s it, you went. Until you rush to switch further, ride in first gear, stop several times and start off again. Keep track of the center of gravity and engine speed when stopping and starting. Everything should be obtained at a reflex level, patience and diligence are needed.

GOOD WIND!

Actually, then everything is in your hands. There are a lot of all sorts of subtleties that relate to maneuvering, rearrangement, braking, and engine deceleration. First, try to click on gears from the first to the last on a not too busy section of the route, how many you have there, switch on the go-to neutral gear and catch the speed of the engine. Do not get carried away by the speed. Only an idiot can fly around the city at a speed of over a hundred, and even more so, without a decade of driving experience behind him. At a speed you need to “you” and in a whisper until you have enough driving experience – speed does not like upstarts.

In general, if someone once tells you that he knows how to control a motorcycle, do not believe it. You can learn to master the art of driving a bike endlessly, there is no limit to perfection and, having mastered the basic skills that you just read about, you will only begin to understand how wonderful it is that you have a motorcycle. And there are still years ahead of the development of various tricks, contingencies, and unforeseen contingencies, a bunch of pleasant moments, an adrenaline tank and volumes of memories of motor trips and rallies. So you will never get bored with a motorcycle.

Well and not less important!

Try to avoid falls, but never be afraid! Falls are unpleasant, they are fraught with injuries and sometimes unnecessary financial expenses. And if motor technology is not yours at all, then you can get a weighty “piston” from the owner of the motorcycle. But even professionals are falling – and without this, it is difficult to fully feel the limit of the motorcycle.

Do not forget that you need to know the measure in everything and remember the rules. As, for example, and the fact that you need to think about getting a certificate of identity with category A, honestly earn it after passing practice and exams at the appropriate levels – this has not been canceled yet! And if you can understand the technique and learn how to drive a motorcycle near your father’s garage, in the courtyard or outside the city, scaring away quails on country roads, then the official – although it’s a tedious thing — you have to go through it.

Do not forget about helmets: while studying, training or riding a motorcycle – a helmet is mandatory in the equipment of a motorcyclist. Speaking of helmets, there will be a separate article based on personal experience and personal preferences. And if you, like me, are already completely “hooked” on motothematics, in the next article I will tell you a little from personal experience on how to choose the right motorcycle! #FullGas!
